Magnolia Sporting Clays is located at 1622 Capitol Gun Club Rd, Jackson, MS 39209 — on the historic grounds of the Capitol Gun Club in south Jackson. From downtown Jackson, it's approximately 10–15 minutes by car. Follow the main road to Capitol Gun Club Rd and look for the Magnolia Sporting Clays signage at the facility entrance. Parking is available on site.

Magnolia Sporting Clays was established in 2020 on the historic Capitol Gun Club grounds in Jackson, Mississippi. In six years we've grown into a full-service sporting clays destination serving central Mississippi — home to a 12-station sporting clays course, a 5-stand shooting range, individual and group shooting sessions, membership options, and clay target training programs. Our roots in the Capitol Gun Club's legacy give us a foundation that's decades deep even as the Magnolia facility is newer.

Sporting clays is a multi-station walk-through course — at Magnolia, that's 12 stations spread across natural terrain. Shooters move between positions, and each station presents a unique combination of targets designed to simulate different hunting scenarios. A full round typically takes 2–3 hours. 5-stand is a more compact format where shooters rotate through 5 fixed positions, with targets launched from 6 automated machines placed around the range. 5-stand offers the variety of sporting clays in a much smaller footprint and shorter time commitment — typically 30–60 minutes — making it ideal for a quick session or for shooters who want to practice specific target types without walking a full course.

The main sporting clays course at Magnolia features 12 distinct stations, each presenting a unique target scenario. Stations are set within natural terrain — wooded areas, open fields, and low ground — creating realistic hunting-condition presentations. The separate 5-stand facility offers 5 shooting positions with targets launched from 6 automated clay throwers placed at varying distances and angles around the range. Combined, the two facilities cover the full range of clay target shooting challenges.

Most sporting clays shooters use 12 gauge — it's the most versatile option across all target distances and the most common gauge at facilities nationwide. 20 gauge is a perfectly viable option and adds a challenge for experienced shooters who want to test their technique with a lighter load. For choke selection, improved cylinder to light modified covers most station distances well. Tighter chokes (modified, improved modified) work better on stations with longer crossing shots or overhead birds. A standard round of 50 or 100 targets through the 12-station Magnolia sporting clays course typically takes 2–3 hours at a comfortable walking pace. Group size affects timing — smaller groups move faster, while larger groups may take a bit longer at each station. 5-stand rounds are significantly shorter: expect 30–60 minutes for a 25- or 50-target session, depending on your group. Both. Magnolia Sporting Clays welcomes public visitors for single-session and day shooting without any membership requirement. You don't need to be a member to come out and shoot — just book your session and show up. Yes. Group events and private bookings are a core part of what we do at Magnolia Sporting Clays.
